Nonwovens can be made from different fibres and by different bonding processes. Their strength, air permeability, water response and hand feel depend on the fibre composition, construction, weight and finish of the particular material.
For garment applications, compare the selected model with the shell fabric, garment area and intended care process. Check the current product specification and trial the combination under the intended production conditions.
Recycled content, recyclability, biodegradability, flammability and chemical safety are different characteristics. A description of a fibre or of nonwoven materials in general does not establish these characteristics for a finished product. Any such claim should identify the relevant model, test method, conditions and supporting documentation.
Do not assume a fixed decomposition time, harmless combustion or suitability for skin contact from the word “nonwoven”. Confirm the applicable requirements and available evidence for the intended use.
